I just dug out my IPod for the first time since last Tuesday, so I could actually focus better on stuff at work (which is why I'm posting here, obviously) Razz

What songs are really tugging at your heartstrings now, with reguard to DA:O? Good or bad, joyful or downright painful. Share with us!

Here's a few of mine that I've found so far:

- Nothingman - Pearl Jam
"Caught a bolt of lightning, cursed the day he let it go..."

- Call and Answer - Barenaked Ladies
"If you call, I will answer. If you fall, I will pick you up. If you court this disaster, I'll point you home... I'll point you home." Makes me think of a hardened King Alistair several years down the road, finally facing a dumped PC who has requested an audience with him to ask for aid in rebuilding the Wardens.

- A Murder of One - Counting Crows
From the point of view of an Alistair longing for a PC embroiled in a Zevron romance?? Devastating. The title alone hurts (a group of crows is called a murder)

-Nickelback - Leader of Men
Yeeaaaahhhhh.... pretty bleedin' obvious there. This song has not-hardened Alistair written ALL OVER it.

- The Beauty of Grey - Live
This one's more from an outsiders perspective, but still. There's a reason they're called the Grey Wardens after all. Wink
I'm positive there's more to delve into here (Live is one of my all-time favorite bands)
Holy crap, I forgot they have a song called "Hero of Love" And yes, it's just as about as appropriate as you would think!!

And, of course, on a more silly note... PINK FLOYD SHOULD NOT MAKE ME THINK OF STEN!!
Did you exchange, a walk on part in the war, for a lead role in a cage? Rolling Eyes Suspect Laughing
I realize it applies more to our Alistair on a not-literal level, but damn that made me laugh at myself Laughing Laughing

Oh, and lets not forget that fit of silly-stupid that I posted on livejournal yesterday. Laughing http://community.livejournal.com/swooping_is_bad/33252.html?nc=8 Laughing Embarassed

I'll stop there for now... what songs have YOU re-discovered in a new light due to DA:O?

Missy Higgins - Scar
And doesn't that sound familiar? Doesn't that hit too close to home?
Doesn't that make you shiver; the way things could have gone?
And doesn't it feel peculiar when everyone wants a little more?
And so that I do remember to never go that far,
Could you leave me with a scar?

Mika - Happy Ending
This is the way you left me, I'm not pretending
No love, no hope or glory, no happy ending
This is the way that we love, like it's forever
Then live the rest of our lives, but not together

Amiel - Love Song
Thanks, you've been fuel for thought
Now I'm more lonely than before
But that's okay..

God, I've been listening to some sad stuff.
On a happier note..
Hellogoodbye - Oh It Is Love
Oh dear
It's been hardly a moment
And you are already missed
There is still a bit of your skin
That I've yet to have kissed

I swear, if I could actually make videos, I would make that advert *grins*

Also, having all the barks and banter in your iTunes library is hilarious. I was feeling rubbish before, but then a sudden burst of Alistair followed by a brilliant song had me in stitches.

Jace Everett - Bad things - Makes me think of Alistair and the PC and all the bad things he wants to do with her Wink

DHT: Listen to your heart - Quite a sad story suits well when Alistair is planning to break up with the PC at the end.

Thats it for now

Not Alistair-related per se, but the human noble origin always puts me in a very depressing mood.
Keep Breathing from Ingrid Michaelson would probably my characters soundtrack on the road to Ostagar.
I also find myself listenig to the Battlestar Galactica Soundtrack quite a few time when writing or reading (yes, I know that I just revealed myself as pretty nerdy Embarassed )

I loooove Missy Higgins!

Also, I suggest:

James Carrington - Ache (for all those Alistair/PC fans...aka: everyone)

Isn't it strange, the way things can change
Life that you lead turned on its head
Suddenly someone means more than you felt before
A house and its yard turns into home
I'm sorry but I meant to say
Many things along the way
So this one's for you

Have I told you I ache, have I told you I ache,
Have I told you I ache, for you...

Have I told you I ache, and I hope it's not too late,
Could I hold you and ache, for you...

Yep, that is deinately in the list. And watching the clip from Return of the King for Pippin's song straight after Ostagar.

Also, Sword and Shield by Sister Hazel. It has been my unofficial DA theme song for when I am not playing.

The song, Focus by 10 Years, when he basically confesses lovey things to the female PC :3

Digging deeper in my mind, can't get you out of my head.
There's no way to describe, just how you make me feel.
I don't know is it love, I have lost control
Even when I'm gone, I can't get away.

I can't focus, when I'm near you.
Do you notice, me at all?
I can't focus, when I hear you.
Do you notice, that I can't focus?

*giggles* I can see him singing it

The Last Snowfall by Vienna Teng came on my player and started pulling at my tragic heartstrings. Crying or Very sad

If this were the last slow curling
Of your fingers in my palm
If this were the last I felt you breathing
How would I carry on?

Dido's "Quiet Times" and Sara Bareilles' "Gravity" definitely tugged at my heartstrings after Alistair dumped my PC. I still listen to the LOTR soundtracks, too =D
